A unique public sports complex at the beach, Dave Marshall Tennis & Fitness' four-acre campus is home to seven tennis courts (including three indoor), taped indoor pickleball courts all just a drop shot to Lewes, Rehoboth Beach, and Dewey Beach, Delaware.

Dr. Dave's track record of teaching excellence improved the skills (and life-long love of the game) for thousands of tennis players ... and yielded NCAA champions, junior national champions, state high school champions, and 150 collegiate players.
Working as an associate coach tennis’ elite doubles players, Dave helped the Bryan Brothers to a trio of recent ATP titles and guided Mike Bryan and Jack Sock to back-to-back Grand Slam championships (2018 Wimbledon and U.S. Open).

With a talented team of year-round tennis-teaching professionals, DMT&F offers junior tennis clinics, adult tennis clinics, weekend tennis camps, and private tennis lessons, as well as summer junior tennis camps and kids summer camps, for players of all ages and skill levels.

Dr. Dave Marshall, Ph. D.
Dr. Dave Marshall, Ph. D. shares a unique perspective of success as both a player and a coach. For four decades, Dr. Dave's proven, copyrighted program has earned him a reputation for tennis teaching excellence and is recognized worldwide.
​ Coaching highlights: Having taught more than 40,000 private lessons and countless clinics over the last four decades, Dave has coached 105 state champions, 75 sectional champions, 25 USTA national champions, two US Open qualifiers, NCAA champions, an Australian Open/Wimbledon Junior Girls' finalist, six national junior champions, 150 college players, and thousands of students whose improved skills have led to their greater enjoyment of the game.
Dr. Dave coached the Bryan Brothers from 2016 until they retired from the tour in 2021. During the 2018 season, he coached Bob and Mike Bryan to titles in the Miami (2018 & 2019) and Monte Carlo ATP World Tour Masters 1000 events. Also, he has coached Mike Bryan and Jack Sock to back-to-back Grand Slam Championships (Wimbledon & US Open).

He is currently coaching five players on the Pro Tour, with one in the Top 10 rankings, two in the Top 20, and two in the Top 50, including Edouard Roger-Vasselin, Kaia Kanepi, Benoit Paire, Gabriela Dabrowski, and Giuliana Olmos. In addition, he has worked with Madison Brengle for years, including a successful run in 2021, which included two titles, raising her ranking on the WTA tour from 90 to 50.
In addition, Dr. Dave served as a college tennis coach for Washington College and Delaware State University. His tennis coaching honors include USPTA Middle States Pro of the Year, Delaware Pro of the Year, HBCU National Coach of the Year, and the prestigious Tom Gullickson Touring Coach of the year on the professional circuit.
While coaching at Washington College, his teams set records for most wins in a year and most consecutive wins. Under his leadership, the Shorewomen reached two conference finals and produced four nationally-ranked players, including one All American and several All-Conference Players.
At Delaware State University, his teams captured the only MEAC North Conference title in school history and finished second in the HBCU National Tournament. During his tenure, the Hornets claimed the HBCU national regular-season title. While at DSU, he coached several HBCU standouts, including first 1st Team All MEAC Performers and All Americans Ksenia Kozlova and Brittany Marshall.
Player highlights: A former nationally-ranked collegiate player at Washington College, Dave holds 12 Delaware Open titles (singles, doubles, and mixed doubles) and 25 national double titles, as well as winning Gold Balls and the prestigious yearend No. 2 national ranking. His USTA League team titles include 2006 (5.0 level), 2007 (Open), 2008 (5.5 level), 2014 (40+ Open), and 2015 (40+Open).

After a quarter-century of building Sea Colony into a Top 10 tennis resort, Dr. Dave embarked on a new venture and opened the Dave Marshall Tennis & Fitness Center in Lewes, Del. In less than a year, the new facility earned its place among the world’s elite tennis camps. DMT&F is currently ranked the No. 10 Tennis Camp in the world, as well as the No. 5 tennis staff, by Tennis Resorts Online (as of May 2020).

When Dr. Dave started coaching, he set a goal to have one of his players win the following: a conference championship, a state championship, a national championship, an NCAA title, a professional tournament, a Grand Slam championship, and a World Championship. He has accomplished what he set out to do. He has had players win each of these titles.
Chris Haggard
Meet Chris our seasonal summer tennis instructor. He is a retired professional tennis player from South Africa. After finishing runner-up in the NAIA national men's tennis championship singles draw in 1991 while playing for Auburn University-Montgomery, Chris turned pro in 1993. He has won six ATP Tour doubles titles and finished runner-up a further 12 times. He reached his career high doubles ranking of No. 19 on 9/8/2003. Chris loves taking players to the next level and focusing on tactics and match play.
Don Heim
Coach Don has over 10 years of experience playing tennis. Don has a growth mindset and specializes in equipping and encouraging players of all different levels to become more fundamentally strong and reach their personal goals within the great sport of tennis.
Dave Macpherson
Meet Coach Macca one of our guest instructors. From 2005-2016, Macpherson served as coach of professional American duo Bob and Mike Bryan - more widely known as the Bryan Brothers - guiding the famed tandem to an Olympic gold medal, 10 year-end world No. 1 rankings, 15 grand slam titles and 87 career titles. In 2014, Macpherson coached Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka to the 2014 Davis Cup title and was named World Team Tennis Coach of the Year in 2014. Macpherson posted a stellar professional career on the ATP tour from 1984-2003 that saw the Tasmania, Australia, native reach a career-high ATP individual doubles ranking of No. 11 and a doubles team ranking of No. 8. Macpherson tallied 16 ATP tour titles - including the 1992 Masters Series Indian Wells crown - and amassed 288 career ATP tour victories.
