May is USTA National Tennis Month, and there are five free or low-cost Saturday events on the courts in Lewes, Delaware, this month. Whether you are picking up a racket for the first time, looking for competitive match play, or want to kick off Memorial Day Weekend with some tennis and a cookout, there is something on the calendar for you.
Space is limited at every event. Read through the lineup and sign up before they fill up.
Learn to Play Red Ball Tennis
Saturday, May 2 | 1 to 3 pm | Free
Red Ball Tennis is pure fun on the court for all ages and skill levels. Smaller courts, slower balls, and smaller racquets mean more rallies and more of the game you actually came to play. If you have been curious about tennis but were not sure where to start, this is the session to show up for.
Free to attend. Space is limited.
Adult Match Play
Saturday, May 9 | 1 to 3 pm | $5 per player
Two hours of actual match play with other adults. No drills. No instruction. Just tennis against other players who showed up for the same reason. This one is for players who are comfortable on the court and ready to compete in a relaxed, organized setting.
$5 per player. Space is limited.
Hit to be Fit Cardio Tennis
Saturday, May 16 | 11 am to noon | $10 per player
If you have ever walked off the court wondering where the last hour went, that is exactly what Hit to be Fit Cardio Tennis feels like. An hour of nonstop hitting in Lewes where you are so focused on the ball that you forget you are even working out.
$10 per player. Space is limited.
Memorial Day Weekend Tennis Cookout
Saturday, May 23 | noon to 3 pm | Free
Tennis and a cookout on Memorial Day Weekend. Three hours of play with the people you want to be on the court with, then food. Bring your racket, bring your appetite, and bring someone who needs a reason to get outside.

Junior Match Play
Saturday, May 30 | 1 to 3 pm | $5 per player
Junior Match Play closes out USTA National Tennis Month with two hours of real matches for young players who are ready to stop drilling and start competing. Real points against real opponents in a structured, supervised setting.
$5 per player. Space is limited.
